DVD drive replacement for my Satellite M30X

posted in: Replace CD/DVD Drive | 7

I am having a few problems with my Satellite M30X-156 combo DVD drive and I am looking to replace it. Do you have a list of compatible replacement drives?

I cannot find a list of drives for Satellite M30X-156 (it’s not USA model, right?). Here’s a list of drives compatible with Toshiba Satellite M35X-S149 (USA model). I think all drives will work fine for your notebook too.
DVD-CD/RW drives:
K000015770, K000015780, K000015790, K000015800, K000025480, K000030230
DVD multidrives (DVD burners):
K000015860, K000015870, K000024880, K000029610
Search on the Internet using the part number and find a seller. Before you buy it make sure the drive is actually compatible and it comes with the front plate because the old face plate might not fit your new drive. I would recommend contacting the seller and ask him about any possible compatibility issues.

  1. I have a Toshiba Portege Notebook with the Panasonic UJ-842 DVD writer. I am trying to replace the dead DVD writer with new UJ-842 drive but the system cannot detect it after I plug in the new DVD writer drive into the Notebook. Is there hardware or software upgrade required for this drivebefore using a new drive? Millions thanks.

I just installed a new cd/dvd drive for my toshiba satellite L305D-S5900. It was the cd/dvd drive from my friend’s HP pavillion dv9000 which is a TS-L802 w/lightscribe. The drive works, but there is no sound whenever I try to play a dvd on this drive. I can play my music through limewire, so it’s not the speakers. The problem has to do with the cd/dvd drive. What should I do to solve my sound problem???? Thanx!!!

  4. I have the DVD RW drive from a satellite P10 and am wondering if it will fit into my satellite A70.

  5. Dear Laptopfreak,

I’m looking for a DVDR drive replacement for my Dell Inspiron E1505. I had a Toshiba TSST TS-L632 DVD±RW Slimline Burner on it but I’m looking for a 16x or higher. Can you help me please?

    Nagi,
Here’s a list of DVD multidrives (Double layer) for a Toshiba Satellite A135 notebook:
    K000043460, K000045550, K000045560, K000043890
You can use either one. Search by the part number for the description.
I found one for USA171 on eBay

  7. Dear Laptopfreak,

I’m writing again :-), this time Re: an issue I’m having with a new Toshiba laptop I’ve bought. It’s a Toshiba A135-S2246 that came with a DVD ROM/CDRW combo Drive that I would like to substitute with a DVDRW, (possibly Dual Layer Drive, but even a normal one would be ok). I’m however having some difficulties in finding which drive I need. Are all slim drivers the same or do I need a specific one? For instance, I was thinking of buying this Toshiba TSST TS-L632 DVD±RW Slimline Burner Drive but am not sure whether it would work. I even called the tech support service but they were not able to help me.So… I’m relying on you! :-)

Thank you in advance on your answer and your help, the site is, as usually, great

    best regards,

    Nagi.
