I have a Toshiba Tecra a4 that won’t turn on. The power cord is plugged in the back the little green lights at front come on but I can’t hear any hard drive noises from it. Maybe power jack problem?
I think your problem has nothing to do with the power jack. When the power jack is damaged, the power LEDs on the frond wouldn’t turn on or they would flicker when you wiggle the power plug. When you turn on the laptop do you see any video on the LCD screen? Does it flash at all or it’s completely dead?
I would try to replace or test the memory module first. If you have 2 memory modules installed, remove them one by one and turn on the laptop after you remove one memory stick.

Another thing to try is to remove the the power, the battery and the ram. Then hold the power button in for 30 seconds (This will discharge any capacitors still holding charge). Put it all back together and hopefully it powers on. The ram is not faulty, it’s just holding onto a process that shouldn’t be there.
