My Acer Aspire 3690 laptop is showing my screen at 4/5 of it’s original horizontal size and there is a black margin replacing the 1/5 missing on the right side. Is there anyway of restoring the screen to full size.
i have reset to factory setting and its still the same

Hi there,
I own an Acer Travelmate that also had overheating problems. I discovered the source to be Windows Vista, which overclocked the system’s processor about 15% (300MHz too much).

Hi everyone!

I’ve a acer aspire 1620 with overheating problem.
I would like to open the case to clean it. Time ago I found (http://www.eserviceinfo.com/)a manual about it but now it’s not available. Could someone please help me?

I have an Acer Aspire 3620 that shuts down after just a few minutes. I’ve cleaned the heat sink and re-doped the processor and video chip. Still shuts down.

I did notice that the fan only runs at one speed. Should it speed up when the unit gets hot or is it merely a one speed fan? Would replacing the fan help?

The Acer Aspire 3627WXMi has passed away aged 3. They did alright but i won’t buy them again. Toshiba is better.

Just replaced my 3 year old Acer Aspire 3627WXMi with a new flash Toshiba Satellite A300/P01 and it is the best!!!!!!! Better then that Acer. Well at this stage it is.

ANY OVERHEATING PROBLEMS ARE USUALLY DO TO DUST. I HAVE AN AIR COMPRESSOR (LIKE FER UR CAR^^) IT WORKS AWESOME> LOOKS LIKE U THREW DIRT IN THE LAPTOP CUS WHEN U BLOW IT OUT THEIRS TONS OF IT THAT FLIES OUT. NOW I CAN LEAVE THE LAPTOP ON MY BED WHERE IT CAN”T REALLY MOVE THE AIR AND IT NEVER OVERHEATS> SO BLOW IT OUT. NOW WITH YOUR MOUTH. USE COMPRESSED AIR AND THE BEST PLACE IS TO BLOW IT WHERE THE FAN IS. ON AN ASPIRE 3620, blow on the right side where the heat sinnk is and on the bottom where the fan is.

I have a little icon of a plug on my taskbar.

Right Click > Brightness > 0%
Right Click > CPU Speed > Low

If it’s not there, your computer may very well not have every aspect of it controlled by Acer.

Consider yourself lucky if that’s the case…

Easy solution, go to the Acer EPower management, set the brightness to 0% and the CPU Speed to Low. No more overheating, no more shutting down.

that would be good if i knew how to get to the Acer EPower management can any one tell me how to find it??

Noticed a lot of Acer problems..

On my Aspire 5630, after approximately 30 minutes, it would shut down. Near the back of my laptop I would feel it getting increasingly hotter.

Easy solution, go to the Acer EPower management, set the brightness to 0% and the CPU Speed to Low. No more overheating, no more shutting down.

Acers customer service is disgusting, 2 years old, last time I sent it back was about a year ago. After sending it in because the mousepad was broken (the 3rd time its been sent in), they formatted it, and sent it back without touching the hardware. Same thing happened when I discovered I had a defective wireless card.

I’ve sworn off Acer since. Never go with them again. Unfortunately I’m still stuck with this defective laptop…
