I had a problem with an acer laptop of overheating and freezing on close down. Also with the lid closed on standby the screen would go blank and the battery would have to be pulled to restart the computer. After checking everything from it being a virus to loose connections I eventually found it to be a dirty fan. Though it was only on the tips of the fan, it really made a difference. The inlet to the fan was far too small and also when the battery expired and was left in it generated more heat. The final solution to solve my problem was a good fan cooling mat I had to plug into the usb, this solved everything. I since got a new Toshiba laptop with no problems of this.

When your acer laptop only works with charger and not with the batter then the battery is dead. You have to buy a new battery to make it work. I hade the same problem with my acer. I bought a new battery and now it works wthout freezing. But still I cant used the charger when the battery is empty then my laptop freeze again. I think the charger overheats the cpu when battery is empty.

I have an Acer Aspire 5610. When I attempt to power it down, it stays in the shutting down mode without ever powering down.

I purchased a replacement battery ref BATELW80L8H for my Acer 1670, however after powering up an message somes on screen telling me I don’t have a genuine Acer battery fitted, The specifications and ref code are the same as the old battery.

1. As soon you boot the machine and login, go to the eManager and turn on the fan. (IMP) You might have to do it everytime. Dont worry, the fans will make the sound like that of a jet engine.
2. Get your laptop fans and coils cleaned atleast once in two years. This is really a downside of the model.
3. Original battery does not have good battery life either.
4. Upgrade your ram to 2 GB. Any DDR or DDR1 ram with 200 pin 2700 | 333MHz would do. Try to find the cheapest possible. That would be around £20 for 1GB.

I had an acer laptop last September, but over the past month or so i can only use it when the charger is plugged in. Other wise it’s very unresponsive, and just wont work.
i’ve uninstalled everything, deleted all music/photo’s/re-booted the laptop with the discs. and it’s still the same :/
anyone have any ideas on whats wrong?

I have an Acer TravelMate 2420, and last night all of a sudden it shut off, and now when I turn it on the Acer screen loads up, but then the screen turns black. It sounds like it is loading properly, but there is just a black screen. I have had problems with this laptop randomly turning off (I think due to overheating), but it has never done this before. I really hate this laptop, but I desperatly need to salvage all of my files from this computer. Can anyone help?

Find out if Fujitsu issued a newer version of BIOS for your notebook. Try updating the BIOS if needed.

My new Fujitsu notebook locks up, screen goes black, scroll lock LED light blinks and FAN OPERATES LOUDLY. It seems to happen when I come out of Hybernate or Sleep. When I lift open the screen it starts.

THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS BY TAKING OUT THE BATTERY AND REINSERTING IT.

This started only a month after i purchased it. It happened about 7 times now in 6 months. Fujitsu thinks it’s a connection issue.

i have an acer laptop, an one third of the screen flimmers and sometimes goes black, or thready in thje colors of my desktop image. what could be wrong with it?
it has turned in to quite a problem since i cant play games because part of what happens on the screen is gone.
