I want to replace the laptop motherboard with one that has a better video chipset
I have a Toshiba Satellite A45-S151 with an integrated 32MB Intel chipset video card. I want to replace the motherboard with one that has either an NVIDIA or ATI 128MB chipset. Can you tell me which motherboards will fit in this laptop shell?
I don’t think that you would be able to do that. Laptop motherboards are very specific for each model. A motherboard from one model cannot be used for another model. All laptop motherboards are shaped differently and a laptop base is designed for one particular motherboard type. I just checked a detailed specification for Toshiba Satellite A45 model and it looks like the motherboard has 32MB onboard memory. I didn’t find any other motherboard with a better video chipset listed for this model.

I have an Acer 3620 Laptop that has been working great since I got it, although lately I have had a small problem with it. Every month or so a screw comes out of place, from somewhere inside the computer, and when I walk with the laptop I can hear it rattling around. So far, I have removed 3 screws from the inside. I just unscrewed the little cover on the back and shook them out. Nothing seems to be running differently…and I don’t know if I should send the laptop in to get fixed with the screws attached or not. So far I have pulled out a silver screw, and two black ones. I know that doesn’t say much, but I don’t know whats important and whats not. Is it possible that my laptop is running too hot and is melting something causing the screws to come out of place? Thank you for your help.

I think it’s a design flaw. If the laptop is still under warranty I would send it in. There is nothing wrong if you send this laptop without screws attached but if you attach them, you’ll help a technician who is going to replace these screws.
A floating inside the laptop screw can create an electrical short on the motherboard and damage it.

hi i have a sony viao laptop which i use for everything running on vista home pri. I also have a desktop on xp sp2 with nothing else on it can i copy everything from my hard drive my laptop to my desktop both have similiar stats. cheers for any help matt
