I had to re-load XP on Toshiba equium lap top after an unfortunate virus infection (its now properly protected!!) but I could not get the hibernate function to work. it would not appear on the windows/control panel/power options tab and also it did not appear on the toshiba power saver feature in control panel. after much fiddling I found out that the reason was a missing display driver. I uploaded the driver from the Toshiba web site and everything worked. I have to say prior to that point I had uploaded and installed most of the drivers but for some reason I did not load the display driver and that proved to be the problem one !! gook luck.
