I have an ASUS M3000Np Notebook PC and the DC power source broke (I believe). I ordered some spares. I can't figure out how to get to the power DC-IN harness. Also, if I get there will I need to solder it?

I have been dealing with laptops and the dc jack issues for a bit now and it seems to be my main staple of business lately. The jacks can break inside the jack housing or even crack from the motherboard which sometimes can be very hard to see. the harness versions are easy to change out but the sodlering ones should be done by someone who has the right tools. a good desoldering tool and a steady hand. www.aydgeek.com check us out. I can help by me doing it or even help you find the right parts thru email.

Well I broke down and ordered one. It works for sure. In fact it came with three units. I gave the RJ45 to my wife cause her stupid MagSafe connector is always just falling off. Solved two problems for us.

"Only if you are willing to sacrifice RJ45, RJ11 or one of the USB ports."

I don't understand? I have never used my RJ11 port for anything. Why wouldn't that be a good point for strain relief? It's about 6" from my crappy power connector.

Iben,

I’m thinking this might be a good way to make sure I don’t have power pin problems.
