I just wonder if anyone has put Toshiba internal antennas into a Satellite A40, I believe they go behind the LCD monitor
I have just put an Atheros mini PCI card in my Satellite A40 as it didn’t actually come with internal wireless from the factory. I also got some Hitachi mini antenna off eBay but they’re crap!
It had a mini PCI slot but no internal antenna, so you could say it wasn’t wireless ready. Fitting the mini PCI was a piece of cake (as was the ram and DVD burner).
I just wonder if anyone has put Toshiba internal antennas into a Satellite A40, I believe they go behind the LCD monitor. I also wonder if I can get maybe a complete LCD monitor from another model which has the antenna or simply get the wires and put them in by themselves.
I didn’t see much about A40s on your website and my other upgrades, DVD (DL) burner and more ram took a bit more research than I thought!
You are right, the internal wireless card antennas located behind the LCD screen. You will have to remove the LCD screen in order to install the antennas. Here’s a disassembly guide for Toshiba Satellite A45 display assembly, I think it would be the same for Satellite A40. There is no clear picture of the wireless antennas, the best shot is on the step 27. The white and black cables, taped to the LCD cover are wireless antennas. Check out other display disassembly guides on Irisvista, so you can get a better idea how run the wires.

If the laptop is “Wireless ready”, it should have a mini Wi-Fi switch on one of the sides. If the switch is missing, probably you will not be able to install the internal Wi-Fi card.

The wireless card antenna cables run under the LCD screen. It would be necessary to open up the laptop display and remove the LCD screen. Here’s a disassembly guide that you can use as an example, it’s made for a Toshiba Satellite 2435 laptop. You can see the wireless card antennas on the step 10 – two yellow square antennas with white and black cables running down to the system board. You have to route this cables under the keyboard and connect them to the wireless card. The white cable goes to the main connector on the wireless card, the black one to the auxiliary connector.

I have a toshiba ea60-199.I cannot seem to get wireless connection where i did befors.The on off wireless switch is pushed in is this on or off,and if it is jammed in the off position how do i unjam it.do i have to take it apart

Hello, Not finding a Bluetooth category, I’ll post this here. Just purchased a Dell Studio 1535 (from Staples) and wanted to add bluetooth receiver to it. Since this was an in-store purchase, I was not able to select this. So, long of the short of it, can I add the bluetooth module to the new computer? I am also planning on adding the backlit keyboard, but that looks pretty straight forward.

My toshiba laptop’s wireless antenna is on the top of the lcd too.The other day I pushed hard the lcd and antenna cables snapped,.Now I have such poor wireless performance that I can’t go away from my router more than 2 metres.Have you got any suggestion to fix the problem.Otherwise,I will buy a usb wireless adapter that costs 30 $.Please suggest a cheaper option.
