How I know if my laptop already equipped with wireless?
I have a Toshiba Satellite 1415 Series notebook and I wanted to know how I know if it’s already equipped with wireless. My owner’s manual isn’t much help to me…. so any suggestions?
First of all, start the laptop and to turn on the wireless switch. On Toshiba Satellite 1415 it’s located on the right side, under the floppy drive. If the LED close to the switch lights, then you have wireless card installed.
If you think that your laptop has a wireless card, you also can check it in the device manager. To access the device manager follow the path: Start – Control panel – System – Hardware – Device Manager. In there find a network adapters line. If you have a wireless card installed, it should be listed.
The easiest way to check if the laptop is already equipped with wireless antennas, is to remove the wireless card cover on the bottom of the laptop. The wireless card slot is located close to the memory slots. If the laptop is wireless ready, then you should see 2 wires (black and white) located under the cover (left top corner on the step 5). These wires are wireless card antennas; the white wire connects to a main connecter and the black on to an auxiliary connector. If you don’t have a wireless card installed, then you can buy it if you search by the part number. Toshiba part number for your model would be P000339520. I just searched here and found this wireless card for $60.

I got a toshiba A10-510, and I use it with a wifi PCMCIA card, but I’m wish extend the power range.
So i’m thinking to install a mini-pci wifi 500mw card, but i don’t if my mother card will be able to deliver enough power (200mA).
Do you know where can i found this information?

hector,
Does it have Internet? No. =)
Will it come with an internal wireless card (for wireless connection) and Ethernet port (for wired connection) so you can connect to the Internet? Most likely yes.
All laptops come with Ethernet port and most of newer laptops if not all have an internal wireless card installed.
If you would like to connect to the Internet using wireless connection, you need a laptop with internal wireless (Wi-Fi) card. Check laptop specifications.

Kelsey,
Take a look at the device manager. Do you see an entry for the wireless card in the device manager?
If you do, you laptop is equipped with the wireless card.
I posted your question here:
How to know if my laptop has wireless internet?

I have a Toshiba Satellite M45-S169. When I opened it to replace a fan, I lost the connector locks (the clips that keep the cable in place) for 2 ribbon cables (power button and mouse pad buttons). Do you know where I could get some spares without buying a broken MB.
Thanks,
Nic

I just bought a new dell Studio 17 Laptop from the Dell online store. In it there is a Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Internal (2.0).When I look at the details about the bluetooth internal. The site said it will suport date transfer by bluetooth, but I need to know if it will allow me to connect my wireless bluetooth headphones to my laptop and stream music through them. My headphones are the Motorokr S9 Bluetooth Sterio Headphones. In the manual for the headphones it said that they support HFP, A2DP, and AVRCP, which are bluetooth profiles for streaming music. I need to know if the Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Internal (2.0)supports HFP, A2DP, and AVRCP profiles.

Hi, My niece aparently dropped her Toshiba Satellite A5-S157 laptop on corner of the ceramic tile and it broke the right hand speaker and hinge. Do you have any idea where I can get these parts and information on how to disassemble and reassemble the parts. The shell (or plastic case of the laptop) is model series F5, as printed inside the battery compartment.
Any help would be appreciated.

most of my web research says connecting cantenna to internal wireless is difficult, can I splice the black connector to the pigtail? it has a solid wire with small wires wrapped around it when I removed part of the insulating wire. can I use liquid solder to connect the wires and wrap electrical tape around the connection?
