OK.. solution 121 is the key for most people I think. And I had already read that somewhere else and already tried it. Here’s my ‘twist’.

My Toshiba battery was getting really really low. Each day just a little bit lower. It would not charge enough to increase up a notch. Same problem as the main post – put power plug in, 10 seconds of amber battery light… then off.

I had already deleted Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and restarted and re-installed it. But problem stayed.

So, this is what I did. I set a low power usage (screen really dark). And then deleted Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery…. but then I made a coffee in order to then come back and do the re-install thing… only to realise that, having left my laptop alone for a while without Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, it seemed to be re-charhing just fine.

So, I left it to recharge the battery for a while and when the light went off, I re-installed Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery. It had got to 41%. And that was that… but an improvement..

Any ideas?

i have a toshiba laptop and the battery of my laptop is not recharging. the laptop works fine with the power from the adapters but if i switch off the power supply the computer dies. the battery is not recharging at all.

Nevermind, I found a solution, it was as simple as going into device manager, going to Batteries and uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, then clicking the Action tab at the top and clicking Scan for hardware changes.
Hope this helps someone else too!

I have an HP Pavillion DV6000, I just bought a new AC adapter because my other one, when it was moved the wrong way the power was completely cut off. My new seemed to be working completely fine, but, I’m recieving a similar problem i had with the other. When its plugged in, the LCD light around the plug everynow and then flickers off for about a second and then comes back on. This is all before it’s turned on. When I turn it on, I get up to windows with nothing different happening. Then when I log in, it shows my battery charging then not charging, and then this keeps happening until it dies. So I tried running the laptop without the battery in at all. It worked fine. I put my battery back in, and then i got the same problem. So, at the moment i have it plugged in and turned off, the LCD light still flickers on and off ever so often, but it seems to charge a bit.

Any help is apreciated greatly!

I have an HP 530 at office. My battery charges and then even if it is plugged in to AC it starts discharging and then shuts down. Have replaced battery, checked with different adapter as well as different power connection, replaced motherboard but to no avail. It shows battery charging and does charge to even 90% but then soon reverses the process.

In an HP 530 notebok the battery is connected directly to the motherboard.
The problem is related to the AC adapter, battery or motherboard. I don’t know what else can cause this problem. I’m really confused because you replaced all parts. :/

By the way, I have exactly the same problem with my laptop (I’m typing on it right now). I know that in my case the problem is related to the motherboard. It’s doing exactly the same when the battery is installed. That’s why I removed the battery and running just from AC power. Without battery it works 24 hours/day.

Dell Inspiron E1505 – weird battery charging problem:

Whenever I plug in the adapter, the battery charging light goes on for about 30 seconds and then turns off. The battery shows a low charge–around 15% right now. If I unplug the adapter and then plug it back in, the same thing repeats again. The battery is only getting charged for those initial 30 seconds. There is no difference if the computer is on or off. Also, if the adapter stays plugged in and I restart the computer, the charging light goes on while the system is booting, but once Windows is up, it turns off again.

I don’t think the battery is bad, since it is, apparently, getting charged up–very, very slowly–in these 30-second spurts. Over the last week, it’s gone from 9% to about 15% charge.

Any ideas, folks?

hello my laptop says no battery detected its a sony vaio. it was working fine but now it will not charge and only works when plugged into the mains..any ideas??
