S Owen, I’ve managed to upgrade my Acer Aspire 5002 from a Turion 1.6GHz to an Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2GHz, plus 2GB DDR RAM instead of 512k. It works very well.. no need to upgrade bios or something alike. In may case it was just plug&play.

Hi there! I’m glad to know that many had success on upgrading toshiba 1800 series… I managed to disassemble it but CAN’T put the new processor! It fits perfectly on the cpu slot but it doesn’t slide back left to be locked… Is it any trick or hint or hidden button that should be pressed or twisted or something else in order to slide it back?!?!? Thanks very much.

I have a acer aspire 5532 with a AMD Athlon 1.6Ghz tk-42 processer x2. Could i upgrade the processer to a faster one something like a AMD turion 64 x 2 2.2Ghz many thanks for your help

i have acer extensa 4620z. have intel pentium dual core t2390 processor. but several applications and game runs so becomes quite slow. can anyone please suggest if i can upgrade to a better cpu or can i change my graphic card from intel to ati?

hi..i want to upgrade my toshiba that has tecra m2 and the model # is PTM20Z-002TU.. what’s the compatible memory or processor for this.. it’s a shame but honestly don’t know much about computer.. it’s pissing me off because it’s so slow.. can you help me with this? thanks..

Does anyone hav a manual how to replace the harddisk in a Packard Bell Easynote GN45?
I have replaced hardisks in my previous laptops but cannot find how to replace it in the GN45 without complete disassembling the laptop.
Any help will be very appreciated.

Toshiba s 1800 with 1 ghz pentium 3 running fine,needed new heatsink and fan £7 from ebay.
Well worth the time and money.

Also just done my 6715b from AMD turion tl-60 to a tl-66 with no bios upgrade and thus 15% faster for £40 from ebay.
CPU’s can be changed if you are sure that the cpu was sold with that model or the manual shows this.
Eg compaq dv 6000 can have a amd sempron or a amd tl-56.
this makes a single core to a dual core for £15 and thus makes the laptop fast enough to use for a couple more years.

ASUS have come out & said that the maximum processor you can put in an F3SV is the T7700 (2.4 GHz). I know this works, because I’ve done it myself! (BTW, that’s 12x clock multiplier)
There is a T7800 (2.6 GHz), but there are no guarantee’s that this will work – I’ve not read anywhere that anyone has successfully used this chip. Note: According to information I’ve read the clock multiplier has an upper limit of 14x.
There are “eXtreme” CPU’s of the same production process as the T7300/T7500/T7700’s – the X7800 & X7900 – however, I read a (translated) French post where it said that only the ASUS G1S & G2S can accept the X7×00 processors – not the F3SV

Flashing the BIOS (unless you are proficient at hacking the BIOS) is always a last resort & can turn a perfectly good Notebook into a paperweight.

No. You cannot update the graphics card, without changing the motherboard…
However, if you go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com, you can download some of the latest nVidia drivers. I’ve done this & squeezed a couple of extra points from the graphics from the Windows Performance results.

is it possible to replace an amd turion 64×2 in a compaq laptop with for something faster? Its torture when trying to burn dvds, the encoding can take up to 4 hours and iv been told its due to lack of processing power
