My Dell Inspiron notebook stopped charging when I would plug in the charger
My Dell Inspiron 1100 notebook stopped charging when I would plug in the charger. Both when it was on and off. I normally could get it to charge by moving the position of the cord as it was plugged into the back of the computer. It got progressively harder to make it charge until just recently it stopped charging at all. The charger itself, not the computer, started beeping when it was plugged into a power source and my computer is dead with no way to get any charge into the battery or run it with the AC power.
Maybe you have a broken or loose power jack, as it explained in this post? I think you’ll have to take it apart and take a closer look at the power jack on the motherboard. Replace or resolder the jack if needed.
By the way, it’s possible that you have a broken wire inside the power cord close to the power plug. Find a known good power adapter and test the laptop. If you still experience the same problem, most likely that’s a problem with the power jack.

Vamshi,
This time could be normal. Try reducing the LCD screen brightness while running off the battery. This will help to run your laptop a little bit longer.
