The recovery disk does not work after the motherboard replacement
I had a problem with my USB ports surging, turned out to be the motherboard, sent it in to authorized dealer, had it repaired. Now my windows installer is not working, cannot do DMI update. After I saved everything to external hard drive I was going to use my recovery disk to start fresh, the recovery disk has worked in recent past, because I used it to try solve the USB problem. Now when I put the disk in it says that I have a A100, and the recovery disk is for a A105. I have tried tech support but after 3 different days of being on hold, I am getting sick of it. Do you have any ideas for me. I have updated BIOS, tried to install windows installer 3.1 redistributable, but nothing seems to help. I keep getting glitches such as not being able to install updates, can’t install .
By the way, have a Toshiba A105-S4004 notebook.
I think I know what is wrong with your laptop. After you replace the motherboard on a Toshiba notebook, it’s necessary to program the motherboard with a correct DMI string. The DMI string contains all information about your notebook, such as the notebook model name, part number and serial number. Without this information the recovery disk will not start correctly and you’ll get a “Wrong Machine” message when you run the recovery disk. Apparently, the technician forgot to write the DMI information after he replaced your motherboard.
Unfortunately, this utility (DMI update) for your notebook is available only for authorized technicians. You’ll have to send your computer back to the repair center and ask them to update the DMI information.
For some models this utility is available for downloads on the Toshiba website.

I have a Toshiba satellite M30-uu9. I have the recovery cds but when i run them through the correct path (reboot and f12 and select cd drive) it just says “wrong machine” in big “x” marks in dos-prompt. If i try to run it in windows it says that this recovery cd is for M30 not “portable pc” but I am using a M30. I dont know what to do? please help.

I have a satellite P205 S 6267 I did a low level reformat to the drive it took like 10 +hours then I reinstalled the OS from the recovery disk 1 and 2 the OS installed completely upon rebooting the message please wait while windows starts for the first time appears then it asks you to log on after log on a BLUE TOSHIBA screen appears and says “initailizing final installation” “do not interupt this process” Then the screen goes black! But the system lights remain on for the power HD Clock etc so it is not powering off its like going into sleep mode!and it stays this way until you do a hard restart which boots into safe mode, upon opting for a safe mode boot you get the following massage”Windows can complete installation in safe mode” Can you tell me what I need to do here? Why is the system going to sleep?
Thanks
