Thank you so much for this site, I hope I am doing this posting correctly. I have a Toshiba Qosmio GX/G8H which doesn’t seem like a common machine to have as there is little information and help when I need it. Yesterday I took it apart in order to dust it but failed to separate the laptop completely. After I was done cleaning I put the laptop back together and everything seemed fine until I noticed that the touch pad and wifi is clearly not getting any. As the wifi/ touch pad area on the computer was the part of the laptop I failed to figure out how to get access to the screws I haven’t actually touched anything around there. I haven’t even seen the network card. I have double checked the connector under the keyboard but I didn’t even unplugged it really last night.

I’m out of ideas of what to do and without any specific guides I’m left clueless, where did I accidentally unplug what? Any idea how I can properly dissemble this model and check it out? The mainreason I decided to do this was that the speakers get so dirty, it is disgusting really. Beautiful computer, awesome buy but it’s so high maintenance to keep it clean.

laptop freak, reading your blogs helped me fix a problem that I was having with my Toshiba satellite. i was not aware of fn+f9. I had reinstalled all of the software and drivers only to find that my touchpad would not work. Can I tell you how I felt to find out I had simply disable the touchpad?!? ?Thanks for posting your knowledge, it saved me from buying a new computer!

Toshiba Satellite A205 is the laptop i have and after dissasembly to clean the heatsink and to clear and debrie or dust i put my laptop back to gether and everything works besides my mouse pad, i didnt use a esd strap. (i dont know if i could have fried something on my mother board? what would cause my mouse pad to no longer work if it is plugged into the motherboard? (do i need to reset settings or drivers)

I have a toshiba L355D laptop. the touchpad ribbon came loose at the board when I opened to replace power connector. I have reconnected and checked connection at the board and fn+F9 to enable. touch pad still does not work. Any ideas what is wrong?

hi i have a toshiba satellite A205-S5814 took my laptop a part to clean the fan and the touchpad cable came apart i can’t find where u plug it back to or can u plug it back in and how plz help

Yeah I tried that after after reading some of the other problems but it did not work. I have also tried reconnecting the cable every way that I could. To be honest I did not know that there was a lock on the things that the cable plugs into and I always just pushed it back in thinking that it was supposed to be hard to push it in. When I did that I bent the cable pretty bad. That it why I think that I damaged the cable. Any suggestions?

Did you try to enable it with Fn+F9 shortcut? Press and hold down the Fn key and at the same time press once on the F9 key. This combination enables/disables the touchpad.

I have recently taken my Toshiba Satellite L305 apart to fix the power jack. In doing so my touch pad cable came disconnected. I have reconnected it but the touch pad will not work I think I may have damaged the cable when reconnecting it. I am not very knowledgeable with computers and I was wondering if you could tell me where I can get a replacement cable. I tried spare part warehouse but I do not know the technical name for the cable and could not really find what I was looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I OWN A TOSHIBA TECRA LS-2 8022,IAM GETTING LINES IN THE SCREEN WHICH MEANS THE OLE LED SCREEN IS EVENTUALLY FIXING TO EVENTUALLY GO,SO I KNOW IAM GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE SCREEN,THE QUESTION I HAVE IS THIS,WHAT OTHER TOSHIBA MODELS ARE COMPATABLE WITH THIS TOSHIBA MODEL BECAUSE IAM HAVING TROUBLE FINDING A NEW LED SCREEN FOR THIS MODEL,BUT I AM FIGURING THAT TOSHIBA USED THE SAME TYPE OF SCREEN FOR SEVERAL MODELS,CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS,APPRECIATE IT KENB

YOU ARE A GENIOUS! My two year old somehow got to my laptop and I couldn’t figure out how the cursor was frozen in the middle of the screen. I’ve searched through my computer using tab and enter. Then, searched online for the last hour with nothing TILL I found you! Your simple FN + F9 saved me. Thanks!
