The speakers stopped working after I formatted my laptop
I just formatted my Toshiba Satellite laptop and the speakers stopped working. They worked fine before I formatted. I went to the control panel to see how the speakers were set up and everything was dimmed out and could not be adjusted. What do I need to do?
Apparently, you are missing the sound card device drivers. Download this driver from the Toshiba website and install it on your laptop. Also, you should be able to find this driver on the recovery disc.

im having sound touble with my Compaq PresarioV2000 laptop. I got this about 1 1/2 years ago. this problem didnt some after i plugged in speakers because i rarely ever do so. also my laptop has overheated and shut down a couple times. im not so worried about that as my sound problems. i turn them to the max and i can hear this screechy sound. then i go to my windows media player and try to listen to a song but nothing comes out of the speakers excet that annoying little screeching. when i turn the speakers on mute though, the sound also goes away. im not the smartest person so taking apart my laptop isnt really a good choice for me. i will be soooooooo thankful if anyone can plz help me. ty

Hi I just recently updated my Laptop (Toshibia Satalite Series A215- S4807) to the new service pack from vista. I know you have to reinstall the driver for the sound, but when I tried listening to my music with my headphones, not a single sound comes out of it. With the headphones plugged in, the only sound that I get are the ones from the speakers. Can someone please help me?
Thank You.

Hello All,
I have a Toshiba M70 that was having sound problems after I formatted, but I figured out a solution that no one has mentioned yet and it worked for me after 2 weeks of racking my brain. I was noticing that everytime I loaded my sound drivers (realtek Ac’97), the sound would work fine til I restarted the computer. After a restart, I would recieve a blue screen that would flash by so quickly that I could only make out the word “error” and somthing about “tvs.sys” then it would reboot over and over in a never ending cycle. I finally figured out that the “Tvs” file had somthing to do with “Toshiba Virtual Sound” and is loaded automatically when you format using the toshiba windows recovery disk provided when you purchase the laptop.
What you need to do is restart and press F8 to bring up options for Safe mode booting and once in safe mode, uninstall whatever drivers you just loaded for sound then restart again. windows will load fine, minus the sound which will pop up in a “new hardware found” window. Cancel allowing it to find the drivers for you. Then go into control panel and into add/ remove programs and uninstall Toshiba Virtual Sound (tvs). Restart and then load your sound drivers, restart. your sound should work! it is optional if you then want to reload the “toshiba virtual sound” again or not.
Hope this helps. It worked for me. Out of all the forums out there I could not find one that had my specific sound problem…Hope this is helpful to someone out there.

I was recently on YouTube finding a music video for my boyfriend. I left a page and went to a different one because the sound of the first video was too low. After i clicked on the new page absolutely NO sound was coming out of my speakers. I’ve done sound tests and the speakers will perform just fine but anywhere else on my computer and they just stop working. I’ve already checked my sound controls.
I have an Acer-Aspire 3680.
Any help you could give me would be awesome.

Hi,
After I connected my Toshiba laptop with the stereo system, I could not hear any sound coming out of the laptop speakers (when disconnected from the stereo system, of course). I suppose I did something wrong while connecting…
I cannot hear sound with headset as well.
I checked, and the sound card can be detected, and the drivers are up to date.
I kindly ask, what might be the problem? Damaged sound card maybe?
Thanks a lot
