My laptop makes funny noise if I turn up volume

My Compaq Presario V3000 laptop makes funny noise if I turn up volume..it comes from the speakers and its noisy when hearing music. What will be the solution?

First of all, test the laptop with headphones. If your headphones make the same noise, it’s possible you have a software related problem. Try reinstalling the sound driver. You should be able to download the sound driver from the manufacturer’s website. If reinstalling the sound driver doesn’t help, you can try reinstalling the operating system. If you still have the same noise coming from the laptop speakers and headphones even after you reinstalled the operating system, apparently you have a problem with the sound card.
If headphones work fine and you hear noise only from the external speakers, apparently there is something wrong with the laptop speakers and they have to be replaced.

I have a Vaio VGN-C190G and it has been making really weird noises lately. When I move the screen on the laptop, the right speaker makes a clicking noise. The sound is actually coming from the speaker itself and not a sound of parts moving or anything. I think it may be a short in a wire or something but I am not sure. Any suggestions?

    Megan,

My computer is doing the same. I bought a Toshiba about a year ago. I can’t get the commercial ads to stop playing.

    Probably your computer is infected.
    1. Download SpyBot (it’s free spyware removal program) and scan your computers for spyware/adware. Cleaning the system might help.
    2. If cleaning with SpyBot doesn’t help, backup all personal files and reimage the hard drive with factory recovery disc. This will take your laptop back to factory defaults and clean all infections.

I have a Gateway and I’ve had it for years, without any problems. One day I was driving and my laptop was atop my console in my van. It took a bit of a spill, but landed flat and otherwise, unaffected. I try to use the audio but, only sometimes, does it come throught clearly. The volume of audio playing doesn’t affect the clarity of sound. I wonder if there is anything I could do to fix the clarity of my audio. (It seems that any regular computer noises come out clear, but any music, or video audio doesn’t..)

I’m using a Toshiba, one of the Satellite series, not sure which. Anyways, When I’m listening to music with headphones plugged in, regardless of volume it operates fine. When there are no headphones plugged in and the volume is above or around 75% (maybe even lower, I’ve only tested as low as that)it tends to get skippy and tends to have partial crashes/freezes. The higher/louder the volume is the worse the crashes/freezes are. Why and How can I fix it?

My laptop is having similar issues. Whenever I try to turn up the volume, it sounds scratchy and pauses alot. The best way to describe it is that it sounds like Satan is trying to come out of my speakers. I had someone look at it, and they said it must be something wrong on the motherboard. What does this mean, and how can I fix my sound? I am going out of the country and will need the sound to be able to use skype, so I need it to be fixed! Thanks in advance…

    Hi,
A couple of days ago i took my Toshiba A215 laptop to my college for a show where i was supposed to play a slide show with music. I connected my laptop with the big huge speakers in our auditorium and pumped up the volume.
I could hear crackled music playing from my built-in speakers as well. I thought it was temporary but after the show the crackled sound was still there whenever i would play some music. Now when i plug in my headphones i still hear a low-volume sound from my speakers. The music plays normal in the headphones though. Are my speakers busted because i don’t think its a problem with my sound card.
    Would b glad if u could help…..thanks

Muting the mike resolved the issue of squeeking noise at high volume.

I think testing with headset and speaker will tell you whts the issue is.

    Thanks.

I just recently bought a used laptop that works really well, the only problem is my internal speakers fizzes or skips any kind of sound that is played on the laptop. I tried using external speakers and headphones and but the same sound still comes through both of them. What can I do?

My Asus X51Rseries laptop started making a thumping noise when I played videos on the internet (not DVDs). This morning it started thumping all the time. I’ve checked the master volume panel. The only thing that stops the thumping is to mute the wave control, but then I have no sound at all. The thumping goes on with or without my external speakers.

    Brandon,
    You can try this:
    1. Lower the microphone volume.
    2. Mute the microphone.
I’ve posted your question with more detailed explanation here. Let me know if it works.

Hey Eric. I am having the same problem as you. If a video or song (anything with audio) is too loud on my laptop, it starts slowing down. The song/video keeps jumping and stuttering, and the computer freezes up, making everything respond slowly. Somethimes I have to plug something into my headphone jack to make it come back to normal. The louder the audio goes up, the slower the laptop becomes. I have 2 gig ram, so that is not the problem.

What does the volume level have anything to do with the computer resources, and why is it that I dont have this problem when I connect the laptop at high volume on external speakers.

I have a Compaq Presario X6000, and this problem is still there after I have formated it.

Hi, i would like to know why everytime i turn up the volume on my notebook it gets very slow. This only seems to happen with some tracks and the more i raise the volume the more slow it gets. I thought of a RAM problem but i have 3.5 GB RAM now, and it still happens. I also tried to upgrade the sound drivers and it says that the ones that i have right now are working just fine.

I have excessive static-like noise when my laptop is hooked up through external speakers. I don’t have a problem when headphones are plugged in though. If I run a line out of the headphone jack to my moniters it is very noisy. It imediately goes away when I unplug my power supply. I have tried using an audio interface(tascam us 426) and still have the same problem. It briefly goes away when scrolling around, or if programs are opening. i even tried plugging the power supply into a furman power conditioner. It is not the original power supply, it is a targus apa10 replacement supply. I’m at a loss…

you blew out the voice coils in the speakers, they are really fragile to over powering. if i am right you’ll have to replace them which isnt a big deal

    Problem with sound – speakers?
This just started a few days ago on my laptop. When I play any sounds it always comes out kind of jumpy if that makes any sense?

I first noticed it when I was on Youtube so I thought they maybe it was just because the videos were loading slow but ive found now that when I use iTunes, or other music programs the same thing happens.

It’s hard to describe, the best I could say is that the sounds come out jumpy and kind of broken not smooth and continuous like it should. And it happens with both the speakers and headphones.

ps – Toshiba laptop, almost 1 year old, and I don’t usually he the speakers up too loud.

    bosscat,
Are you using regular stereo headphones?
Make sure the headphones are plugged all the way down into the jack on the laptop.

I do not have any clue whether is a missing driver or a manufacturing problem

This problem is not related to the driver, this is a hardware related problem.

Hie! I’m using Compaq V3715 laptop. The problem with this laptop is each time I plug in my earphone the sound /music can be heard from both ear phone and the built-in speaker itself. I do not have any clue whether is a missing driver or a manufacturing problem

    Laptop Freak Says:

    Hil85,
If you think you have a driver related problem you can try this.
    1. Find out witch driver is causing the problem, probably you can see it from the error message. Uninstall and reinstall the driver again. If it doesn’t help, go to the step 2.
    2. Restore Windows back to the time when it was working properly using System Restore Utility. If it doesn’t work, go to the step 3.
    3. Backup all important personal files and reinstall software back to factory defaults from the recovery disc. This process will erase everything from the hard drive and reload the laptop back to the original state.

If you still experience the same problem even after reimaging the hard drive, you have a hardware related failure.

I have this a similar problem but it only seems to be happening when I leave my Laptop running too long. I believe it is a driver problem due to the fact my Laptop shuts its self down every day by its self due to error related to a driver. I haven’t a clue if they are actually related.
