I replaced LCD screen but the image is very faint
I cracked the LCD screen on my HP Pavilion laptop. When it cracked, there was only a red tinted picture on the left third of the screen. I replaced the LCD screen and when I turned the computer on, you could BARELY see a faint image. I got a new inverter and put it in and the image remains very dark and basically unviewable. Where do I go from here?
You didn’t have to replace the inverter. If two-thirds of the cracked screen worked fine and you could see the image, there was nothing wrong with the inverter board.
First of all, check all connections between the video cable, LCD screen and inverter. Try reseating all connectors and test the laptop again. If you still have the same problem, try installing original LCD and inverter back.
If your laptop works fine with the original cracked screen and it’s bright, but the new LCD screen has only a faint image with no light, apparently the new LCD screen is defective. Most likely the new LCD screen has bad backlight lamp. You’ll have to replace the screen.

I have a problem with my Acer TravelMate 4060. i’ve had it for 2 years now, and it hasn’t had any problems appart from past 3-4 days the screen started turning off if i didn’t use the laptop for over 30 seconds. Programms open and up running, screen randomly turns off but lights back up if i use touche pad or any keys. I would like to know what is wrong with the laptop and how could i replace it or repair it ?!
Thankyouuu

My Toshiba laptop (Satellite Pro L20) screen has gone very faint and you can just make out what is there. All else works. Increasing the brightness makes no difference.

I have an acer aspire 5570z, I cracked the screen and replaced it. After I turned it on the screen was so dark you could barely make out what was there. I fiqured out that i had ordered a glossy screen instead of a crystalbright, does it make that big of a difference? or is there something I can do to fix this problem?

I have a Gateway 4540GZ laptop. The LCD screen is very dim. I tried to adjust the contrast and brightness with no success. I checked the power options in control panel and set every option to always on. No success. I connected an external monitor and the external monitor works ok, but the LCD is still dim. Any suggestions?

Charles,
If the screen is very dim most likely it’s bad inverter board. If not the inverter, then bad backlight inside the LCD screen.
I would try replacing the inverter board first.

I also have a HP DV1000 and had the screen go dim. I took it to a repair shop and they told me I needed a new inverter and quoted me a ridiculous price. I bought an inverter online and replaced it myself and it was still dim. Thinking that it might be the backlight, I bought a new LCD screen and its still dim. So there was more than likely nothing wrong with previous LCD screen. I have no clue what could be the problem at this point. It connects fine with an external monitor. Do you have any idea what could be the problem and what should be my next steps at this point? I really need my laptop for school and as a poor law student I have no money to buy another laptop!
Thanks,
Keshia

I have a Systemax Laptop 15″ screen similar issue replaced due to a cracked screen the LCD and then the invertor. Now i can see the VGA display when pumped out the rear of the laptop to another LCD monitor. The backlight on the LCD is working fine but the image to the LCD display is none existant or to faint to be displayed due to the overpowering brightness of the backlight now i know that the luminance is not over bright but i believe there is a problem with the internal display to the LCD. Does anyone have an answer as i have been searchin for 6 months now and still no resolve.
I would like to check the LCD against another laptop but thats just adding more cost to the machine (if done by an independant) i was Told the LCD was tested working (second hand) and the LCD invertor was new.
I have tried the old screen and the combination of invertor and LCD`s in all 4 configurations and stll the same result.
