Ignore the previous post. The white line did come back later that day, and it appears the doom of my monitor was merely a matter of time.

I also own the same model of Toshiba Satellite and had this error for about a minute till it faded away. While it was there I restarted my computer, but to no avail it was still there. Luckily, by the time I found this article it was gone. Now when I restart, it is still absent.

First I assumed this occurred due to be cranking my up graphics due to an unrelated event yesterday. Although I would assume the problem would still be here if this was the case, and such an action never caused me trouble before.

So perhaps it was just the morning cold that was giving my screen problems and it just needed some time to warm up. This may be something to consider and test out before purchasing a new screen.

Thank you for this article, I am glad to know the problem is with my screen and was not my entire computer. Hopefully this problem will not return.

I replaced my LCD on my Alienware M7700 after the dreaded white bar showed up. Now the new one works but the alignment is a mess. I have a 2 inch vertical rainbow bar on the right and a 1 1/2 horizontal duplicate bar at the bottom meaning the top of the screen wraps around and is imaged again at the bottom. My mouse cannot go into these areas - backlight is fine. Any ideas how to fix the alignment? I also upgraded to 2 gb RAM at the same time but have hooked it up to another LCD moniter and image is fine there.

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop and recently I tried to put a CD on my Itunes but instead another program opened and my computer froze. I restarted it but now the left and right sides (about an inch) are completely black and all the icons have shifted into the center of the screen. Any way I can fix this?
