I have a compaq presario V2000. the computer turns on fine and works perfectly. But after usually 30 minutes of use the screen goes blank. I still see that the backlight is on but there is no image. I tried pluggin in an external monitor and pressed the functoion key but the screen says there is no signal. I reseated the memory with no result. I did the some troubleshooting to make sure it wasn't the inverter or the screen itself they were all unsuccesful. Since restating is the only option thats what i do, but after 30 minutes or so the screen goes blank again. I'm thinking video card problem. help please?

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satelite Pro 4300 laptop bought from E-Bay,which was apparentley working fine ?, It arrived with a smashed screen . Replaced Screen which was working, lights up to a white background only (no picture), changing display to ext VGA, display works ok, next step is to replace cable. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
Am i right that it cannot be the inverter because it lights up ?.

Hello,

Recently I moved and reinstalled my laptop (Toshiba a100-250) in my new home. I connected the tv cable and suddenly there was a stroke of lightning at the television end. My laptop screen also disappeared but still has backlight. I rebooted and also in the booting no screen, only backlight. Through logmein remote control i can connect to my laptop and control it. I tested the video cable with another laptop but it seems it is also not working anymore. I didnt tested my laptop with external monitor yet. My video card doesnt shows any signs of problems. If i switch in logmein to my computer screen instead of logmein screen, it shows only white. I brought it to a Toshiba center here in Brazil but they said I had to change my motherboard to get it working again which costs here like the double price I paid my laptop for.... So do you have any idea what it could be. I presume some contact burned inside the computer so there is no output to my lcd screen. I tested the television with my camera connected to it and the video-ins are still both working perfect.

Thanks in advance

Ramon,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215 S4757 and I bought a LG Flatron to have it as a second monitor. I connected it via RGB and selected the extended monitor option on Windows. But the thing is that the monitor goes Power Saving Mode and doesn't show anything
Try using Fn+F5 keys to switch video output between internal and external screens. Hold down Fn and press on F5. Does it change anything? Can you switch video from internal to external?

Jon Hradsky,
I don't think that your problem is related to a driver. I posted your question in a separate thread:

I have a Toshiba Satellite. Recently, and for no apparent reason, when I pushed the power button to turn on my computer, the computer would turn on, but the monitor would not show any image or even any sign of light (doesn't even light up). Is this possibly a driver issue, or will I have to get a new monitor.

PS: Pretty convenient how I get my first problem with the laptop about a month after my 3-year extended warranty ends. I smell a conspiracy.

But the thing is that the monitor goes Power Saving Mode and doesn't show anything I did the test on another laptop and it worked fine and used another LCD Monitor on mine and it didn't worked.

What could be the problem?? I have no idea because i've selected TV MODE on the Flatron and it doesn't go to Power Saving Mode.
