Comments on: Notebook turns on but monitor would not show any image

My compac presario f700 started by not turning on at all
just replaced the motherboard with a quality refurbed unit
now it turns on but I have absolulty no picture on screen
I have unplugged the LCD leads to make sure no problem there
I did plug it in to a TV screen with svideo jack but no pic there either…fan,hard drive, all that clicks and runs lights come on , on the keys and wireless lights ..Do you have any ideas???anyone?? help I miss my Compaq !!!

updated BIOS on thinkpad a31 & everything. this only happened AFTER installing the ATi drivers (newest for this model according to Lenovo).

still happening.

un-installed newest drivers … STILL occuring …

any suggests?

I have a dell studio and I had been viewing my screen on an external monitor. One day I went to go start up my computer and the laptop monitor did not come on, but when I hooked it up to an external display it showed up perfectly on the other screen. I’ve tried switching it to dual display and just plain switching it to just having my laptop screen show up. The external display will go blank like it should but in both cases my laptop screen is just dead black… no signs of life. Is this something I could fix because I need to use it at school.

My laptop boots up but the screen is blank. If I hook it up to an external monitor, i can use the laptop just fine. What do I need to do to fix this?

I’ve got an HP Pavilion DV5000 that also just shows a blank black screen when I try and boot it. I’ve read others peoples problems with a broken left hinge that may have caused the LCD to stop working but I don’t think that’s the case with mine as my hinge is just fine.

I’ve tried reseating both the memory sticks and HD, I’ve removed the battery pack and held down the power button for 60 seconds, etc… (all suggestions I’ve found when trying to search for a fix to my problem) and nothing has worked. I’ve also tried connecting an external monitor up to the laptop but nothing comes up on its screen either.

Any suggestions?

Can a Thinkpad A31 be upgraded to an A31P (to obtain a higher screen resolution)? If so, what will I need to change out to accomplish this upgrade?

I have an HP laptop and whenever i click on wedding videos that i saved ,a “windows has stopped working” comment comes up.I even was trying to add one of those vids to a powerpoint presentation but same thing happened and powerpoint was restarted.Please help.I appreciate your time

Many thanks for your reply! I have already updated the bios and display drivers, it is 100% up to date in all areas yet the same thing is happening, probably a loose connection then, i will take it back to the shop as its only 2 months old. Thanks again Laptop Feak!

i have a new toshiba satalite a200 core 2 duo / 3 gig ram, my problem is that i am getting a random black screen from time to time, this happens while using various apps from internet explorer to my dj software.

Make sure you are running the latest BIOS. Try updating the BIOS if needed, maybe it has a fix for your LCD screen.
Could be loose connection between the video cable and LCD/motherboard. Do not open the laptop if it’s still under warranty.
