Comments on: Laptop went into hibernation and now it will not power up

My laptop does not start up. The adapter is plugged in and only one light lights up when plugged.

The last things to happen were the sound of people speaking during movies on my laptop dvd player became sluggish. The laptop became hot. I put in on hybernate but it became unplugged somehow and the next time I wanted to use it. i would not start.

one light only- when plugged only. Any ideas. Thanks

I have a acer 3680, it was shuttind off randomly for a few days, it became very frustating since it took too long to start up, I let it stay off untill I really need ed it , but not it will not turn on. The power comes on for a second then it goes dead, Need Help Please,
PS ..
I tried removinf the battery & holding the power buttom for about 30 seconds, it did not work.
Tried removing the battery and start from the ac charger ,still nothing,
The battery charges fine( fully charged now) but its still shutting down

I have a MCP Transport T2000 laptop that has started to power down and then shut off after only a short time of use. It does not appear that the fan is the cause (can hear it run).

Please provide more information about your problem.
1. Can you see any lights on the laptop when it’s plugged?
2. Can you hear any noise when you push on the power button?
3. Is it completely dead?

Steve, The DC jack doesn't fail like that. I think it's either bad power or bad motherboard. Check the power supply with a voltmeter. If you find the culprit, please let me know. I posted your question here.

i have a 5 yo sony vaio PCG-7A2L. worked fine last night, and i shut it down (vs. hibernating) when i was done. today, it will not power up at all – no response when i hit the power button, no lights when connected to power. i’ve tried pressing power button for extended time, remove/reinsert battery, switching batteries, switching power cords – no result.

suspect problem w/the motherboard, or with the connection between the dc jack and the motherboard. any advice on diagnostic &/or repair would be appreciated.

I have a Toshiba A135 Laptop Computer. I was used it this afternoon for 5 hours. It became very hot when I shut it down. I went to use the Laptop again 4 hours later and it is completely dead. I tried pushing the on/off button several times and nothing happens. The only light that is on is the power cord light. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone have an idea of what the problem may be that is causing this?

I have the same issue except I didnt install a new Hard Drive as Duane did. After standyby and shut down, the laptop will tourn on with only the battery power but restarting after hibernation requires the laptop to be plugged in! Also you seem to have to press the power button 2 or three times in the later scenario only.

I know it must be a software issues as I reinstalled windows recently (clean format install) and after the initial install everything was fine with hibernation but somewhere in the update process for XP and various hardware drivers, it’s gone awry again.

Have you heard of this before Laptop Freak???

Hi Techies,

I have Averatec 2300. Its not booting up at all. Power led is ok, cd-drive spins fast, no HDD led, no display, no activity.

Any suggestions welcome
