It's a sad Toshiba is not investigating this problem to find a fix but keeping stating it's hardware issue. I’m also expirencing same problem with Toshiba A100-521, when installed Crucial 1 GB RAM laptop will not boot but if I add the original 512MB RAM that came with the laptop it’s start but will only recognised 1GB instead of 1.5GB.

It’s a sad Toshiba is not investigating this problem to find a fix but keeping stating it’s hardware issue.

The problem is with the memory module the laptop came with, not with the new ones. If you remove the original module, the laptop won't start. I tried a couple of different dimms, all of them work when used with the original module installed, but none work without it. Still trying to figure out a workaround.
