I have Problem with display and sound on my Acer Travelmate 5520 with clean install of Os Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
When I wake up my computer from sleep the screen will show up with horizontal whites lines and ALL sound drivers disappear, and can no longer be found on device manager. If I reboot computer thinks work undtil the computer goes to sleep again. Of course I can disable sleep but I am not happy with that as a solution so I have been googling this problem and is seems to be wery common but no solution. Microsoft ponts and manufactures and manufactures either pont at microsoft or that claims that their drivers are fine (but they are not) or if the manufactures claim the have new drivers for windows 7 64bit they do not make the problem go away.
(This problem is wery common on many computers so probably the specs on my computer is not wery importand but for what it is worth they are: My computer specs: The computer is with AMD Athlon(tm)64x2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55 1,8 GHz and 4 GB memory. Chipset :AMD RS690/RS690M. Processor :AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TK-55 @ 1800MHz. Physical Memory :4096MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM ). Video Card :ATI Radeon X1200 Series. Monitor Type :	SAMSUNG - 15 inches)

What I have done so far: Is getting all new drivers both from manufactures of computer and from manufactures of audio and videocard or display conroler drivers but the problem has not been solved:
Regarding the Video Card from ATI Radeon X1200
I installed:
VGA_ATI(UMA)_v8.593.100.6_Win7x86x64
AND
VGA_ATI(M74_M76 M92 M96)_v8.635.0.0_Win7x86x64

Regarding the Audio problem for Realtek High Defini
I installed:
Audio_Realtek_ALC272_v6.0.1.5904_Win7x86x64 audio drivers

But still:
When I wake up my computer from sleep the screen will show up with horizontal whites lines and ALL sound drivers disappear, and can no longer be found on device manager.

Hello,

I've got a Gateway mp8708 laptop (Refurbished), and since I've owned it (For about four to five years now...), I would get vertical lines in random places only when Windows or Linux boots. Occasionally I would get a dark tint of grey that filled up a huge area and that would start glowing brighter and brighter until it is pure white (The best way to describe it is like a burning in effect, but that doesn't happen often...)

I can resolve the black screen with vertical lines by putting the computer in sleep mode and waking it up, but just closing and opening the lid doesn't do the trick.

To me it doesn't seem like the screen is damaged since I am able to get it to work after putting it to sleep. There are also no lines when I connect it to an external monitor.

Its got to be a loose connection somewhere, but I didn't see any when I disassembled it. Its just kind of frustrating. My day job involves repairing desktop computers and some minor hardware level laptop repairs, but I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to screens. I was hoping you would possibly happen to have some idea of what this issue would be. Also, is it safe to work on the screen when it is disassembled?

Thanks,
Brent

I have a 4 month old HP Pavilion DV7-3060us laptop running Windows 7 with a ATI Radeon HD 4530 GPU. Just yesterday, after being online (between sessions of playing a few light puzzle games) for several hours, as I was about to shutdown for the night, several horizontal flickering pixels 3 or 4 long started appearing wherever I highlight a area of the screen. They disappear wherever I move it. I immediately shut it down and today when I booted it up, the flickering pixels has not reappear yet.. even after several hours of use.

my questions are.. should I be concern? Will it occur again or get worse? What is or may have caused this? Is the video card overheating? I run a cooling pad constantly and it's well ventilated and it never feels hot even when under intense gaming. I haven't any hardware problems until now. All my drivers are up to date. Can I fix this?

Gedimas,

I think I have similar issue… My 1.5 year old laptops LCD screen after 6 month use started showing 1 horizontal white pixel line (well the line color kind of depends on what colors are above the line but usually it’s white) after 3 more months second appeared and today I spotted a third one now it’s one 3 pixel thick line at the near bottom of the screen. I found that it’s monitors fault because it always shows. However I found a trick to TEMPORALLY FIX IT: by easily pushing left top monitors corner forth and right top corner back the line disappears and appears again if I release the corners.

Sounds like the LCD screen failure. Unfortunately, you cannot fix this problem. You have to replace the LCD screen.

My monitor has suffered water damage it still has these bright tiny spots at the right corner this could be the problem. Also the screen occasionally spawns partial dead pixels because it's old and suck.
 Any ideas?

Hi everybody.

I was working on an old HP Pavilion (zv5000) and two vertical lines of flickering pixels had appeared. First, it was just one. Now, there are a couple of flickering vertical lines, 1 pixel wide, having a space of two inches between them. External monitor works ok. Should I replace my LCD monitor? These lines seem to multiply, and I don't think I should attribute this issue to graphics card overheatting.

Troubleshooting?
Thanks in advance.

Tom,

I have had the screen replaced three times at the authorized repair center under warranty and another 2 times out of warranty at the Toshiba repair depot. Each time that I got it back, it worked for about one week and than the vertical lines would return like a bad penny. They are pink, white and blue. They are always in different locations

First of all, call Toshiba depot and ask them to fix the problem. The repair should be covered under internal warranty (I hope).
That's very strange that you are getting same lines after a few LCD screen replacements. Very strange.
I would say you a have a problem with the screen but after so many replacement I'm not sure... Bad video cable?
