I have a Tecra M2 that the left hinge broke. I was able to drill out the rivet on the bracket that the hinge connects to and replace it with a small machine screw and nut. I found the nut and bolt at Radio Shack. It works good as new now.

My sister has a Toshiba A3 which she managed to drop onto the floor and after that one of the display hinges snapped and is barly hanging on.
So I am curious if this is a thing I could dissemble myself and repair or if I need to send this into a service center.

Can you press F2 and enter the setup menu when the hard drive is removed?

I have a Toshiba satellite L35. When I push the power button. The Toshiba screen pops up immediately and across the bottom it says, press F2 to enter setup or F12 to enter multi-boot selection menu but pressing either number does nothing. The fan is on, and three LCD green lights. I have tried a new memory module, and it does the same thing. I also have pulled out the hard drive and powered it up, the Toshiba screen is still there I would appreciate any help thanks

Khublai Khan,

I have checked the Toshiba Tecra M2 disassembly guide but am not sure at which stage I should fixe the hinges and also I am not sure how I would recognise that they are damaged.
You cannot purchase hinges for a Tecra M2 laptop separately. Both hinges are a part of the back cover assembly (LCD cover assembly).

Hi,

I have a Toshiba Tecra M2 whose screen is starting to come loose - I want to avoid it breaking completely.

I have checked the Toshiba Tecra M2 disassembly guide but am not sure at which stage I should fixe the hinges and also I am not sure how I would recognise that they are damaged.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
