I'm having trouble with my Dell insipiron laptop screen. Sometimes the screen will freeze, dim, and show greater detail of pixels until I readjust the position of the screen. I can hear the laptop startup chimes if I shut it down and boot it back up. Sometimes when I do this verticle lines will display in the middle and side of the lcd. If I keep moving the lcd up and down I can get it to work right, but sometimes I have to do this a bunch of times before the screen works. I believe that it is just an issue with the lcd or lcd cable, but I wanted another opinion.

Raven,

I have had this similar problem before. I fixed it somehow at random but I don’t remember how I did it. Last night the power went out and now when I plug in my charger on my crappy zv6000, the screen goes dim instead of bright. It’s supposed to get brighter not darker. =.= Anything I can do to fix this?

Did you try adjusting the LCD screen brightness with AC adapter plugged in?
I believe on HP laptops you have to hold down the Fn key and at the same time keep tapping on the F8 key.

Ok, I have some of the above problems, lol, but not all... with a few extra issues to throw in! Ok, Dell Latitude D820. I recently had the keyboard replaced so it could very likely be a bad connection to the LCD as stated in previous problems, BUT... when start in safe mode, safe mode with networking, or anything besides a normal boot up I don't have any problems. Boot in safe mode, no problems... Boot normaly BLACK SCREEN!?!?!?! If it was a bad connection or loose connection, it would still be bad and not work in safe mode, right? If so, can u steer me in the right direction? I am afraid it is something simple in the settings, power options or something like that. I don't want to look like a complete idiot taking this in to get fixed and pay outrageous fees for them to change my settings.

Any and all suggestions or pointers on how to fix this is greatly appreciated.

I have a Dell Latitude D620. It has recenty suffered intermittent problems with the screen going black. If I move the lid about (opening and closing it) it will usually come back on. However, I have now noticed some icons are unresponsive and some boxes do not open fully (they stay transparent and when I close some of them , parts of them remain on the screen. The machine will then become unresponsive, but the cursor still moves around. Sometimes it will then emit a continuous beep and I have to turn it off.
Can anybody help?
Thnks
