I have the blue screen of death error
I have a Dell Inspiron 1505 and I have the blue screen of death can somebody please give me some help. I have no idea what to do have had this laptop for 3 years and this is the first time this happened.
I cannot tell what is causing the problem without running some diagnostic tests. This could be either software or hardware related problem.
You can try some of the following suggestions.
1. Turn on the laptop and press F8 when the logo appears on the screen. From the boot menu select Last Known Good Configuration press the Enter key.
2. Can you boot the laptop in Safe Mode? Try using the system restore utility and take it back the last restore point when the laptop was running fine.
3. It’s possible that one of the memory modules is bad. If you have two modules installed, remove them one by one and try starting the laptop with each RAM module separately. If the laptop works with one module but you getting the BSOD error with the second module, most likely the second module is bad. If you have only one module installed, try replacing it with a known good module.
4. This problem could be related to the hard drive. Turn on the laptop and listen for the hard drive noises. If it makes repetitive clicking or grinding noise, apparently the hard drive is bad.
Remove the hard dive and find out who made it. Go to the manufacturer’s website and download the hard dive diagnostic utility. Test the hard drive.
5. If you think that the hard drive and memory is good and steps 1 and 2 do not help, try reinstalling the operating system from the recovery disc.

Wow, I had a blue screen on my computer. I will try the reccommended tips. I noticed my computer was acting up after I was burning some music and it made a really loud noise and then the fan seemed to be running for a long time. Would that at all lead to a blue screen error? Or is that two different problems?

My Dell Inspiron 1720 got dropped and when I would first start it up I got blue screen errors. I turned it off and then on and got another (different) blue screen. Now when I restart it, it tells me “Windows has failed to start”. “A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.” “If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup, choose Start Windows Normally.” The options are Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. Either options takes you to the Windows starting screen (as in the screen where the bars go scrolling thru the rectangle box that is above the words Microsoft Corporation) and then it just sits there till the battery runs dead(if its not plugged in). Its running Vista (which is a PILE) and it fell about 4 feet – owwwwww.

Hi there, I have a Sony Vaio FZ series laptop, I recently started getting the blue screen of death but my laptop would reboot no problems & would work fine for weeks after before happening again. However, a couple of days ago, the screen went blue but so I could still see what was on the screen (only tinted blue). It would crash and I would have to manually shut it down. On trying to reboot, the screen has blue stripes vertically down the screen, then displays loads of the letter A. I have tried system restore & complete system recovery but nothing is working & it still will not boot to Windows. Any help would be much appreciated as I think the warranty has just ran out!!

Hi, I have a Sony Vaio FZ series laptop. A couple of days ago the laptp crashed & the screen went pale blue (So I could still see what was on the screen). I had to shut it down by holding the power button, upon rebooting there were blue horizontal lines on the black screen & Vaio logo screen, followed by a black screen with the letter A across the entire page. Windows will now, not start up. I have tried recovery with the discs, it gets half way through before… hey presto, it freezes & goes pale blue again!! This has very much annoyed me as I think the warranty has just ran out, also, the hard drive has failed twice already since owning it. This is the first time I have had this problem though. Any help, comments or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

blue screen error because of RAM failure, run Memtest from memtest.com , if test fails just change the RAM, i got same problem my ram was not working properly.

Hi,
i recently keep getting a blue screen on my laptop (Aspire 4930). it says i have a Unmountable_boot volume and
***STOP: 0X000000ED (OX8649E10, 0XC0000185, 0X00000000, 0X00000000) Before that had happen, my laptop ran very slow in my desktop and when i manage to get to my task manager, it shows that many processes had stopped working. this happened when my sis accidentally(assuming it is an accident) hitted my laptop with a metal pole while i was watch a movie. than it got reaaall slow and laggs a lot till i shut it down manually. the next day i tried to start it again i got the error message. and cant log on at all. is there any way i can restore my desktop and all my data? i cant open it up cause i dunno how and there is still warranty on it. i am using windows vista sp2. pls help… thx

hi,i hve a toshiba sattellite a500…i formatted the harddrive and ive tried to load xp n the blue error msg comes up just after it says starting windows..it use to have vista on it….is it cause of xp?does vista have to be re loaded??

Hello. I have a Sony Vaio laptop which i bought just under a year ago. It was all working fine until i noticed it started to go very slow and it started freezing a lot. In the end the screen froze and i left it for 10 minutes and it was still frozen so i turned the power off by holding down the power button. When i turned it back on again a black screen came up with white writing and it said that there was a problem with Windows start up and i had two options to choose from: 1. Recommended option to solve the situation. 2. Start windows normally. When i chose the first option, it got as far as the Windows loading bar and the loading bar went on for about 10 minutes then the blue screen appeared. When i chose the second option, the exact same thing happened. I rang the electronic helpline of the store which i bought it from and they told me to keep pressing the F10 key which would take me into the safe mode and that i should choose option 4 which would clear the C drive (or something like that). When i pressed F10, it went into the safe mode but there was only 1 option and this took me to the windows loading bar page and eventually the blue screen again. Please help!!! Thank you!

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215, its running Vista on it. Its ran good for about 1and a half years. Back in june or july of this year, we took it down to the Computer store, because the computer would not go on the internet at all, first the Wireless went, the dial up and finally ethernet. So they found that the wireless was set wrong, that the nic was bad, and so was the hard drive. We only had the hard drive replaced, because all the Nic does is run the dial up and the ethernet, and we had finally gotten wireless internet, and we put 1gb more ram on it.
In the year and a half before i took it in to the technichans, the Blue Screen shut me down five times, the computer shut itself down 10 times (No blue Screen, just or power failure, just click off) and had numerous computer freezes. In that whole time, i had no anti virus sotware on the laptop what so ever. In the 2 months since ive gotten it back, the Blue Screen shut me down 3 times, the computer (No blue screen)shut down about 6 times and everytime that I unplugged the computer, the task bar would go weird, making it so where id try and change the volume, windows explorer had to restart. I also put anti virus on it.
Last thursday, i went to start it up, and i got a blue screen erro message. It said error 0xc000000ED Un ammountable boot volume. I restarted and hit F8, tried safe mode, and got the same result. Resated and hit F8 again, tried safe mode with networking, ended in blue screen. I ended up trying all of the F8 ooptions twice. It wont start up, just goes to Blue Screen.
I had installed new programs, but that was a few days before and it stated up fine in the days preceding, but now it just wont start. I have schoolwork onthere, music, and videos that i dont want to lose.
I have the recovery disks, but I don’t want to wipe it out. Please HELP!
Also I am on my desktop, using SLOWER THAT DIRT DIAL-UP! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

Hi. I think I have the same problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. I started getting the blue screen problem too about a month ago and I haven’t touched it since. The screen says: “A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedyly exited or been terminated.” The solution says “If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.” Of course I have tried that but it always ends up to the blue screen. I tried last good configuration and it also took me to the blue screen. Help please? =(

I have two laptops one is dell inspiron 1525 and another is compaq TU3000 series. I have same problem with both of my laptops, when i will working on the system, suddenly a blue screen comes and my lappy goes restart. I recently brought new reliance net connect data card and using internet through it. Someone suggested me to download reliance net booster for boost up my internet speed. So I downloaded it. After download this problem occurs.
I didnt even understand the actual problem. Is it because of net booster? I uninstalled the reliance net booster.
Can you please suggest me the solution and please tell me what is the reason of this.

When I get the BSOD, I usually follows steps 1, 2 and 5, before attempting steps 3 and 4. Is there a good reason to follow the order given?

has anyone ever thought to look in the air intake vents where the fan is of your laptops to see if there is alot of dust build up
this will cause your system to over heat and also give you this blue screen 
PS: i love blue screens

I have a Toshiba notebook nb200 with Windows XP and I’ve had it only for 3 months. I turned my laptop off then turned it on again the next day to find it asking me to choose either safe modes or last known good configuration etc. Each mode I chose gives me a blue screen of death saying that either my hardware of software is causing this problem and it just freezes at that screen.
As this laptop has no cd/dvd drive I have tried putting Windows XP on a usb which did not want to boot. I bought an external dvd drive but as i booted that up it told me that there was no hard disk drive installed on my laptop. I am really confused as to what has happened to my laptop. Are there any solutions you may have to this?

I work with Lenovo 2958, x64 Windows 7, 4GB RAM DDR3.
When I use my reliance netconnect (wireless) it works fine except if i my internet usage becomes intense. For e.g., if i am using bittorrent or uploading pics to my social networking profiles or opening too many webpages at a time etc.
In any such case, with 90% probability the system shows blue screen for memory dump. Mostly in cases where uploading occurs. If i try not using the laptop when uploading is happening maybe it ma not crash and the work my finish. But if i use the computer it will mmostly crash. I play heavy games like prince of persia, harry potter and Quantum of Solace. I don’t think therefore there is any problem with memory. Also memory dump occurs only when I use the internet.
I am not able to locate the issue. Please help me

I have reliance netconnect 1x. It works fine, but causes my machine to restart after showing a blue screen. Unfortunately, this happens only when the modem is connected and that too at regular inverals.
Cud any1 help me?

I have a Everex StepNote laptop. My explorer internet cannot display the webpage, even though I am connected to the internet. My laptop diagnostics says it pinged the remote host(everex) but did not receive a response. I have just discovered, on the internet, that everex went out of business. I have been trying for days to get to the webpage but nothing has worked. Has this happened to anyone else and did you get the problem solved? If so, how? Thanks for any responses. Ronadens

ok the same issue ,blue screen my laptop is new , hp pavilion 4gb ram , 64osbit, n everytime i download or upload using reliance netconnect i get this blue screen n it says memory dump n i hv to turn it off. i know ther is nothing wrong with my note book , if anyone find any solutions plz let me kno plzzzzzz
