There is no sound from my new Dell Inspiron 1545
There is no sound from my new Dell Inspiron 1545.It was working fine first, then the sound became distorted or crackled. And now there is completely no sound. The laptop is very new. I have tried all methods reinstalling the drivers, restoring etc.
I have done the tests for the speakers and it shows everything working perfectly only you cant hear the sound.
Sound from headphones is crackled like.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
I don’t think that you have a software related problem because you tired restoring the laptop back to factory defaults and it didn’t work.
I don’t think that your problem is related to the speakers because you missing sound from both channels – laptop speakers and headphones.
Most likely you have a failed sound board. Like most other laptops, your Dell Inspiron 1545 has a sound board integrated into the motherboard. That means the whole motherboard has to be replaced.
Is it still under warranty with Dell? Send it to Dell for repair.
By the way, when there is no sound coming from laptop speakers, but headphones work just fine, try this method to fix it.

I have a similar problem.
Yesterday I noticed when I was listening to music that at moments it just stopped..there was no sound at all..so all I did was play another song and pay no attention to it.
Later on, I was trying to have a video call and when I plugged in my headphones there was sound still coming from the speakers, and not the headphones. And the microphone won’t work either. I tested the speakers and microphone and it says everything is working perfectly, but like I said, it plays but after a while there is just no sound.
I also tried restoring it to an earlier date but that didn’t work, it still does that.
Also now, whenever I open up itunes, the music doesn’t play, but any other sound online it does.
My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6000
Thank you so much!

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and I was watching a TV show online last night on sidereel.com. I’ve been watching episodes of this particular show for awhile and haven’t had any problems.
I fell asleep halfway through the show and when I woke up I heard this noise coming from my speakers that almost sounds like a beep, but sort of like a click as well. It was repetitive. When I closed the window, it stopped but it still happens if I play anything on my speakers.
I tried playing a song on my iTunes and it click/beeps through the whole thing.
Do you have any idea how I can fix this?! Help!
Thanks so much!

Hi, i too have a Dell Inspiron 1545. I bought it approx 6 months ago. Vista Ultimate installed, all drivers up-to-date with no problems whatsoever, however.. i’ve started using an IM program to communicate with my friends. I purchased a headset with ear and mic plug, when connected i can hear music and voice through the headphones, but no response from the mic levels in the audio setup (IDT High Definition Audio).
There is no volume controls on the headset, i’ve followed the ‘mic’ setup routine adjusting levels according, changing from different input sources, but still no mic response. I uninstalled the IDT drivers and reverted back to the Windows own audio setup, still the same problem.
The mic on the headset works if i plug it into my Stereo unit, but not in the laptop. I reinstalled the IDT drivers and did a mic setup again, still no response. The mic socket is ok and not damaged, the IDT setup tells me the sockets on the front are operational (headphone and mic plugs inserted).
It’s baffling me, any help appreciated.

Hello,
I have a sound problem with my sony vaio laptop VGN-CR21S.
One day the sound has just disappeared, sometime is comes back for like 5 minutes and then it’s gone.
It’s very strange because sometime the icon shows that everything’s fine but there’s no sound and sometimes there’s a red button on the icon.
I don’t know what the reason is…
I really hope someone will be able to help me out!
Thank you in advance!!!

Hi,
I have compaq presario C702TU notebook. While playing songs, suddently, sound on the right side internal speaker is dead but another -left side speaker is working, now only 1 speaker is producing sound. If I check it using headphone, sounds on both sides (left and right side) are coming. Please let me know what the reason it is.
Your reply will be very much appreciated !!!

James,
Most likely the right speaker is dead and has to be replaced.

I have a Dell 1501 laptop…I am pretty sure I know what is actually wrong with my laptop its the fixing it part that I am unsure of. I was attempting to get a web cam mic to work and ended up accidentally deleting my speaker drivers…thus…no sound. Would I find these drivers on a disk that came with the computer? If so how should I go about installing them again? I really dont want to have to pay to fix something I did on accident.

Hi.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and on my computer there isn’t buttons on the keyboard that light up when i press caps lock or anything. My problem is when I press F7, F8, or F9 a “volume screen” should pop up showing me my volume. It doesn’t do that anymore. I now have to go down to the start bar by the time and adjust the volume myself.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is most likely to be the motherboard. ive read on every website and downloaded loads of drivers etc.. but the problem remains. my warranty is up, so i guess theres nothing i can do, apart from getting a new laptop !! but definatly not dell, this was the first and last time. judging from the reviews of dell products, i dont think people should get back to them. good luck guys !!
