How to fix power button and speakers problem in HP Pavilion dv6000 series notebook
If you have a problem with the power button and internal speakers in a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook you can fix it by reconnecting cable on the back of the switch cover.
This fix was submitted by Donald Ksing in this comment and here it is:
I had a problem with my laptop’s internal speakers, and going through a couple of sites, I managed to figure out the problem.
I have an HP Pavillion DV 6114TX. I hope this helps someone.
Step 1: Figure out how to open up your laptop:

Step 2: This helped me figure out my problem. You may find your issues defined in one of the many links from here:
Step 3: Troubleshoot the problem:
In my case, the cable feeding my sound had gone bad (Kolt 1). So I switched it with the one feeding my touch buttons (Kolt 2). I’d rather have sound than the ability to control no sound.

Had similar problem with my laptop, no sound then power button did not work on Pavillion dv6226us. I downloaded the repair manual from HP and ordered the replacement power board with cable from HP parts dept. I installed new board and cable and sound and power worked again on laptop. It may have been only the cable was bad, however HP does not sell the cable alone, and I did not want to risk third party generic cable on Ebay.

I have an hp dv6000 as well, and I have no sound and power button does not light up as well as I have to wiggle it a ton to get it to turn on. However when I push down by the button, like you did in the video, I still don’t have sound or the light does not light up. Do you think I have the same problem as you or another one? Thanks
