Laptop does not show hard drive in the BIOS
When I go to the Bios it shows nothing for the HDD. Does that mean the drive needs to be replaced? I cant tell if the drive is working or not.
Could be bad hard drive (most likely) or there is a problem with the hard drive controller on the motherboard (less likely).
1. Enter the BIOS setup menu and load default settings. Save and exit. Can you see the drive now?
2. Try reconnecting the hard drive, maybe it’s not making good contact with the motherboard. Reconnect the drive and test the laptop again.
3. Remove the hard drive from the laptop and test it in an external USB enclosure. You can buy this enclosure in any local computer store. Connect this enclosure to another working computer.
If you can access the hard drive when connected to another computer and the hard drive works properly in the enclosure but not in the laptop, there is a problem with the laptop motherboard.
If the hard drive doesn’t work in the enclosure, probably it’s bad hard drive.
If you have to guess, try replacing the hard drive first.

My Laptop (Toshiba SA50-101) started showing bad sectors in D Drive. Sometimes the running program will hang and I have to foecibly shutdown. Is it due to the bad sectors how to recover the bad sectors?

I just replaced the hardrive on a Toshiba Satellite 2450-101.
It does not detect the new hardrive in BIOS now. I cannot access Bios in this model it seems.I have disconnected and reconected the drive a few times to see if it would detect it but no. Any clues as what I can do?
Thanks
