I have a two week old HP 2000 laptop, and when I am not using it, it will shut itself down. This happens both when it is plugged in and fully charged, and when it isn't plugged in. Any ideas what's wrong?

I have been having a similar problem with my laptop recently
its' not even a year old and it works fine every other time, but when I play World of Warcraft (and recently WC3 again) it only works for about 10 minutes b4 the fan goes crazy and it shuts itself off
i've had it since last September and its' worked fine with WOW (even with the latest expansion)up until now
and its' not a memory problem becos I havent even reached halfway with the stuff i've got on here
do you think cleaning it as suggested here will be sufficient or should I talk to Blizzard as well? becos only their games seem to trigger it

I have a HP G60 that the heatsink fan has gone out on, and needs to be replaced. I have followed the detailed disassembly instructions, and am at the point of removing the motherboard. I feel like a idiot, but I have looked at the white connectors under a magnifying glass, and still can not figure out how unplug the wires from the motherboard. Pieces of the plug ins are breaking off while pulling with my finger nail. How are these locked together?

JS,

HP LAPTOP DV5140US Keeps crashing for no apparent reason. No warnings or anything. I don’t think it is a harddrive issue…After i start it again it is fine for a little while and again it crashes. and sometimes it does not crash after restarting. Kind of Weird !!

Will it crash in safe mode? If not, most likely this is software related problem.
Anyway, first of all, I would run test on the hard drive and memory. Check the laptop BIOS menu, it's possible you have diagnostic utilities in the BIOS meny.
If both pass test, backup personal data and reinstall Windows OS from the recovery disc (or recovery partition).
