Laptop will not turn on after I disassembled it for cleaning
The cooling fan was very dirty and I disassembled the laptop for cleaning. When I completed the reassembly step by step and tried to turn on my laptop it just won’t. When I press the power it starts the fan for a second and when I press it once more and it begins to start but after a second or two it dies.
Most likely the laptop will not turn on because of some connection related problem.
Here are two more common mistakes people make while reassembling a laptop:
1. The memory module is not seated correctly.
Try reconnecting the memory module, make sure it’s installed properly.
2. The CPU is not seated correctly or the CPU socket is not locked.
If you disassembled your laptop for cleaning, most likely you had to remove the heatsink. There is a chance that you pulled the CPU from the socket and now it’s not making good contact with the motherboard.
Unlock the socket, reseat the CPU and after that lock CPU the socket.

I have a laptop that I received as a gift from my mother. It was running really slowly so I decided to delete some unnecessary files. I went in under add/delete programs and deleted the first program I came to that I did not recognize and had not been used for a long time. After restarting my computer, I kept getting an error message. I was told by a friend to go to restore and restore setting back to a date that I knew everything worked. I picked the previous day at 5:00pm know that was the set back up time. Ever since the restore I am unable to get into my computer. It will boot and then at the sign in screen it asks for a password. In the past I always just clicked on OK and was able to move past this screen to sign into Windows XP, however I can not get past the password screen. Do you have any idea what the pass word would be?

I’ve inserted my photo card from my camera into the port, it is now stuck in my TOSHIBA satellite A2oo. If I take it apart would I have access to get it out?

I have a toshiba satellite L10 laptop which was working fine last night. However go to turn it on this morning and a screen comes up saying “we apologize for the inconvenience but windows did not start successfully. It then gives options to choose. These are safe mode, safe mode with networking, start windows normally or last known configuration. Have tried all of these but we just get the windows loading sign and then the screen goes black and nothing happens. Is there anything that can be tried to fix this?? Am getting desperate and frustrated now! X
