Power button on Acer Aspire 9500 does not work
I have an Acer aspire 9500 laptop and my power button doesn’t work. At first I had to press it 2-3 times at different angles and it worked. Yesterday I tried about 500 times and I didn’t manage to power up my laptop. I took the plastic covering off and pressed the tiny button on the green plate but still nothing! Can anybody help me?
In an Acer Aspire 9500 the power button is located on the power button board.
If the power button stopped working, you’ll have to replace the entire power button board. I believe the part number for this board is 435906BOL11. Google the part number and you’ll find it.
Remove the plastic cover, disconnect the power button board from the motherboard and replace it with a new one.

I had the same proble, my power button ceased to function a couple of years ago. I now boot by pressing the arcade button on the front and pressing F2 at the boot screen, this brings up the boot options etc. simply use the right arrow key to scroll across and press enter, exit saving changes and the laptop will boot up as normal, sorted!

Hi,I’m afraid this post won’t be helpful to you Sammy, but I have a similar (not identical) problem. I have an Acer 5630EZ with an unusual power problem – I can’t turn it on if it has been in use recently. There is no problem turning it on for the first time each day, but if it is shut down it takes at least 30 mins (sometimes much more – up to 3 or 4 hours if the computer shut down because the battery ran out) before it can be fired up again. Pressing the power button has a mechanical effect, as the battery indicator light responds (flashing red or green depending on whether or not it is currently charging), but the laptop itself remains switched off. Occasionally hitting the power button repeatedly works, but generally it doesn’t. No idea what to do, any help appreciated. Cheers, Chris

peter,
Probably it wasn’t the right adapter for your laptop. That’s why I always recommend my customers to buy original factory adapters, not some strange third-party adapters.
I cannot tell if you can fix the laptop without looking at the laptop. Probably you can sell it for parts.

I have an otherwise perfectly useful Compac Armada. The battery is probably still good, because it stopped suddenly being able to boot up. There’s nothing but a blinking cursor on a black screen. Does this sound like something that is repairable at home with some new parts?

I just sold the same computer. If I would have found this sooner, I would of never sold it…
O well..
