The screens on a dv8, HDX models and I am sure there are others. Are very difficult to remove. HP had come up with this flush bezel design where the screens are held in place with this 3M industrial acrylic two sided tape. This tape is not meant to be removed. However, with a very hot hair drier and lots patience the screen can be carefully pried from the bezel. The next obstacle is to remove the old tape from the bezel with out damaging it. Lacquer thinner is required here. Do not over do it as the thinner will eventually remove the black paint on the inside of the bezel. Also, the front plastic cover is held in place on the bezel with he same tape, too much use of the thinner will weaken this bond and cause problems.
The tape can be found at an auto supply store as it's also used to stick the molding on car doors. You can also buy a totally new screen assembly from HP for around 350.00 to 400.00 $. I found a severely scratched screen so I could practice this procedure and the most difficult part was removing the old adhesive from the bezel with out damaging it.
Good luck with this.

Hey :).
Recently, my laptop because faulty with the screen. Whenever I tilted the screen, it would become white + I would have to continue to tilt the screen till it went back to normal. Or, I could push a certain part of the screen. However, I seem to of pushed the screen, it which a black mark inside appeared with a crack in the middle. It runs down the side of the screen, however, only at the top is it back. When I turn the computer on, of works perfectly, the sounds etc, but the crack makes the screen unable to see anything. If I move the screen quickly, things appear for a split second. So do I have to buy a new laptop to resolve this?
