Do you know if the hinges for a Toshiba Satellite A15-s157 PSA10U-01C8WV are interchangeable? For example, would the hinges from an a15-s127 work on a Toshiba Satellite A15-s157 PSA10U-01C8WV? I had also herd that some Tecra models, and some A10 models would also work for my Toshiba Satellite A15-s157 PSA10U-01C8WV but before I buy I wanted to ask you about interchangeabilty of these parts, since you are far more experienced and knowledgable with all these models..and, Thank you in advance
Toshiba Satellite A10 and A15 laptops may have three different base types. One base is marked with a letter “S”, the second one with a letter “C” and the last one with a letter “P”. In most cases this letter is stamped on the bottom of the laptop base in the battery compartment area but sometimes the letter could be located in a different spot.
You’ll have to use different hinges for different bases.
I have a Toshiba Satellite M35-S320 with broken hinges.
How far do I have to disassemble the laptop and where can I find the parts I need?
Replacing broken laptop hinges takes a lot of time because you have to take apart two major parts – the laptop case and the display assembly. For removing the top cover assembly you can follow these instructions. To open up the display assembly, check out guides for other models on www.irisvista.com. If you decide to open the laptop, be very careful and document each step you make so you have no trouble assembling it back. If you are not confident, do not open the laptop or you can damage it permanently.
You can find new hinges if you search on Google using the part number.

My daughter’s Toshiba Satellite 1410 screen won’t stay upright - just happened today - any thoughts on how to tighten?
If the laptop display just suddenly became loose and doesn’t stay upright, them most likely the display hinge or hinges are broken. You cannot really tighten a broken hinge, you have to replace it. To replace the display hinge in this model you have to take apart the display assembly and remove the top cover from the laptop base. Hinges are pretty expensive; you can find them on the internet around $70 a piece plus shipping cost. If you want to replace them yourself, I can help you to find the part number so you can search for it on the net. Leave a comment with the laptop full name and model, something like Toshiba Satellite 1410-S173, PS141U-01F3WV
I have a Toshiba Satellite A55-S306. I have a broken hinge on my laptop (not sure which one). Which guide should I follow to replace the hinge? Where is the best place to purchase the hinges? I would appreciate any help.
To replace hinges in this model, you have to take apart the display assembly and the laptop base. It is very time consuming repair and you shouldn’t open the case if you have no experience with computer repairs. Unfortunately, I haven’t created a guide for a complete laptop disassembly. The only guide I have will show you how to remove and replace the keyboard. Read through other guides, they all kinda similar and you’ll get an idea how to get inside the laptop.
The hinges for Toshiba Satellite A55 are surprisingly inexpensive. The cheapest hinges I’ve ever seen. The best way to find a hinge is by using Toshiba part number.
Toshiba part number for left hinge – P000402140
Toshiba part number for right hinge – P000402150
Just search through Google using the part number and you’ll find it right away.
I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 that has a problem with the hinge(s)…the back won’t stay up (very floppy)…I was told it may be a loose screw or hinge may need to be replaced. Can’t find instructions on how to get to the hinges to find out…can you help?
That’s correct. A floppy display indicates broken hinges or loose screws. I would try to tighten the screws first. You can get access to the screws if you remove the LCD screen mask from the display assembly. Here is a display disassembly guide for Toshiba Tecra 8100. Be careful when you removing the screen mask, it’s very fragile and can be easily broken. You can skip steps 5 and 6 showing how to remove the FL inverter board. On the step 6 you can see 2 screws securing the hinges. When you remove the screen mask, you also get a clear view on the hinges and you can check if they are broken.
