I have my Nec Versa laptop which works perfect when turned on. However when I switch on the power, the front blue power light turns on but without anything on the screen. I have to force the blue light off by pressing down the power switch. I try the turn on/off process for quite a while until the screen finally starts. This process irritates me because sometimes i have to make so many trials or even give up. Any ideas about the causes and solutions?
First of all, I would check the memory modules. It’s possible that one of the memory modules is not making good contact with the slot or failing.
Try reconnecting both memory modules and test the laptop.

I have just purchased a laptop hard drive enclosure for my old laptop’s hard drive. It seems to work well however I can’t find some documents. Is it possible to see files that were on the desktop of my old laptop?
If you can see all other files, most likely your desktop documents are still on the hard drive. You just have to search in the right location.
Here’s how you can navigate to the desktop documents:

I have a broken LCD on a HP Pavilion DV6-2157 notebook. I don’t see any screws on the bezel. How do I replace the LCD on this model? Any info would be helpful.
You are correct, this model doesn’t have any screws on the screen bezel.
In order to remove and replace the LCD screen you’ll have to separate the display panel from the laptop base first. After that disassemble the display panel and remove the LCD screen.

I have an IBM R51 laptop, just recently it can not read CDs, VCDs, even cleaner disc. When I go to my-computer, it does not show anything even when the disc is inside the drive, but it can easily read DVDs. When ever I put the CD/VCD in the drive, the light in the drive blink after sometimes it stop, unlike for DVD where it works normally. Will you please help me?
Sounds like you have a failing optical drive. Apparently, the CD reading module is not working properly but the DVD reading module still working fine. I’ve seen it happening before.
There is not much you can do to fix the drive. You’ll have to replace the whole optical drive.
What is a VGA port and where is it because I dropped my laptop and the screen is broken and I would love to get my pictures on my home computer.
The VGA port looks like one shown on the picture below. It’s a D-shaped connector with 15 holes.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000. I push power and it flashes for a second then nothing. The power supply is fine, as is the battery. The place I bought it says I should just buy a new one for the price of repairs. How do I know if it’s Mother Board, or could bad memory cause this symptom?
First of all, make sure the power supply works properly. You can test it with a voltmeter.
If the power supply is fine, your problem could be related to the memory or motherboard failure.
Most likely your HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop has two memory (RAM) modules installed. Both memory modules can be accessed from the laptop bottom.
Try removing memory modules one by one. Test your laptop with each memory module in either memory slot.

On my Dell Vostro 1500, the plug in part for my charger adapter, inside my laptop broke off and is floating inside my laptop. Is this part replaceable?
In Dell Vostro 1500 the power plug (also known as power jack) is soldered to the motherboard.
Yes, the power plug is replaceable but it’s necessary to disassemble the laptop and take a closer look at the motherboard to make sure it’s not damaged by the broken power plug. This service manual explains how to remove the motherboard.
If the motherboard is not damaged, most likely you can solder a new power jack.
My 1.5 year old laptops LCD screen after 6 month use started showing 1 horizontal white pixel line (well the line color kind of depends on what colors are above the line but usually it’s white) after 3 more months second appeared and today I spotted a third one now it’s one 3 pixel thick line at the near bottom of the screen. I found that it’s monitors fault because it always shows. However I found a trick to TEMPORALLY FIX IT: by easily pushing left top monitors corner forth and right top corner back the line disappears and appears again if I release the corners.
This description sounds like a problem with the LCD screen. Unfortunately, when the laptop screen starts showing lines like that, it cannot be fixed.

While playing songs, suddenly, sound on the right side internal speaker is dead but another -left side speaker is working, now only one speaker is producing sound. If I check it using headphone, sounds on both sides (left and right side) are coming. Please let me know what the reason it is.
Both channels in headphones are working and it means the laptop sound card is working correctly.
Most likely your problem is related to the right speaker failure. Apparently, the right speaker went bad and has to be replaced.

I have a new Toshiba Satellite P505 laptop and the Num Lock stopped working without any reason. Number key pad stopped working completely. Do you know what’s going on?
Enter the BIOS setup menu and check the BIOS version installed on your laptop. I just looked though the BIOS change history for a Satellite P505 and apparently Toshiba fixed this issue with the latest BIOS update.
