Windows cannot repair this computer automatically

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500D-00X when I start up my computer the screen says windows is loading files then the startup repair menu comes on and says “windows cannot repair this computer automatically” it then gives me two options “send information about problem (recommended)” or “Don’t send” both do nothing I click finish and it shuts down the computer. What can I do, I restarted it in safe mode but anything I select in there restarts my computer and I go back to square 1.

I’m afraid your Windows OS is corrupted and has to be reinstalled from scratch.
You can reinstall OS from a set of recovery disc or if your laptop has a hidden recovery partition, just run recovery from that partition.

On some newer Toshiba laptops you can boot from the recovery partition if you follow these steps:

1. Push and hold down the “0” key and at the same time turn on the laptop.
2. When Toshiba logo appears on the screen, release the “0” key.
3. The laptop should boot from the hidden partition and give you recover options.

Before you reinstall OS, don’t forget to backup personal files.

  1. My dad’s computer stopped working last night. He has an acer aspire 4530. He said he kept getting pop up images saying his hard drive was going bad, he thought it was probably just a virus, now it won’t turn on and I got that “windows cannot repair this computer automatically” it then gives me two options “send information about problem (recommended)” or “Don’t send” both do nothing I click finish and it shuts down the computer. I don’t know what to do or what’s wrong, it won’t enter into safe mode, it just goes to the screen that says starting windows. Is the hard drive bad? Do we need to get a new one? If so, which type?
